The New Build non-denominational Primary School & Early Years Centre (part of the Knightswood Learning Community) has been built to accommodate children from St Brendans, Garscadden, Yoker, Kelso and Thirlstane Day Nursery.

They will all benefit from the higher level of enjoyment and excitement in the curriculum they experience within their newly built school, nursery and campus grounds environment.

PBL worked in partnership with City Building (Glasgow) LLP throughout the Summer Season of 2017 ensuring that Phase 1of the £21 million Contract was completed in time for the children returning after their summer break.

The childrens enhanced outdoor space has been transformed into a safe and secure area of mixed hard and soft surfaces incorporating grass, outdoor play equipment including play logs, swings, artificial turf and planted areas with trees and shrubs.

Specially designed movable planter/ seats and storage boxes were built to help encourage the children to plant from seed and see their fruit and vegetables grow.

 

Phase 2 is underway with Yoker landscaping works due to begin early 2018. The design will incorporate outdoor play equipment, sports pitch and parking facilities. An Adventure and Imagination Area with informal seating for teaching activities will be installed as will a Perspective Walkway with Story Totems, Wildflower Meadows, Nature trail Paths leading through Mounded Turf Hills to Woodland Gardens, Willow Tunnels and Purpose built Pergolas with Raised Planters for fruit trees and bushes to grow.
